AMENDED - Geelong Swimming Club bring home the gold!

A group of young swimmers from the Geelong Swimming Club (GSC) have burst onto the swimming stage winning a total of 16 medals when they competed at the All Junior Country - Finals at Melbourne Sports Aquatic Centre (MSAC) on the weekend.
Competing in 50 metre events against the best swimmers from around the Country Victoria, a total of 19 GSC swimmers, aged from 9 to 14 years qualified for finals with 10 swimmers winning 16 medals between them.
Geelong Swimming club coaches were thrilled with the results and attributed it to the depth of swimming the club. "We have a crop of young and enthusiastic swimmers coming through our junior program and it is a credit to all our Coaches at the Development and Junior Level" says John, Head Swimming Coach.
Highlighting the hard work these swimmers have put in over the season were rewarded generously: Michelle 8yo won her backstroke by a body length winning time 47.13. Michelle also placed 3rd in the freestyle 41.10. Breanna 10yo won her freestyle in 33.47 and placed 2nd in breastroke and 3rd in butterfly. Luke 11yo won his breastroke with ease in a time of 42.27. Harry D 10yo had the race of his life. He was quick off the blocks and getting in front at the start. Harry got 3rd in the breastroke 45.68 a 2 second PB. Trent 13yo held on to get equal 2nd in the 50 freestyle in a PB 28.88. Tyler 14yo winning 4 gold. The unexpected one was the backstroke. Tyler had a great start and held on to win. Tyler finished off wining the 50 freestyle in 26.91 which was a huge PB. Madelyn qualified 8th for the 11yo breastroke and in the final took off over 2 seconds to finish 3rd in the final of 43.07. Brock placed 2nd in the 14yo 50 freestyle in 27.16 behind Tyler. India qualified 3rd fastest for the 50 freestyle and in the final placed 2nd in a time of 30.43.
Other finalists who represented the club were: Harry K, Sean, Sam, Morgan, Claire, Mitchell, Ben, Rhys and Grace..
