25th Geelong Swimming Club Open Swim Meet

The Geelong Swimming Club celebrated its 25th Open Swim Carnival on Saturday at Kardinia Pool.

The swimming carnival of seventy events was one of the biggest for many years. The program included four hundred and twenty swimmers and one hundred and sixty relays   from thirty four clubs across Victoria.

Geelong Swimming Club Head Coach, John Beckworth said that   ”The standard of competition was very high with a large number of National Age qualified swimmers competing. The club relays were particularly exciting with many close finishes bringing the best out in the swimmers.”

The carnival was opened by ex Olympian Peter Doak and the Geelong Swimming Club president, Dr Chris Steinfort.

The Geelong Swimming Club was successful in securing both the Boys and the Girls aggregate trophies. Each by more than 500 points from its nearest rivals Kings Mornington and Geelong City Aquatic.
