GEELONG SWIMMING CLUBSWIMMING VICTORIA STATE SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS HELD AT MSAC
FROM 4 TH JANUARY TO 15 JANUARY
The Geelong Swimming club wasrepresented by over 40 swimmers at the State Swimming Championships held at MSAC in Melbourne over the last fortnight.
It was a very successful carnival for the club with 8 of the 18 relay teams entered swimming in finals and a number of individual swimmers achieving personal success.
Olivia Dalton won a Gold medal in the Female 16 years 200m Breaststroke, for the third year in a row, in an excellent time of 2min 45 98 sec. She also won a bronze medal in the Female 16 years 100m Breaststroke. Fellow female swimmers Stephanie Taylor and Jess Mackay collected Bronze medals in the Female 16 years 100 Freestyle (59.95 sec) and the Female 15 years 200m Breaststroke (2 min 49.89) respectively. The three girls have qualified for the Australian Age Championships in Brisbane in April along with Brock Norwood, Trent Richards and the Male and Female 4x50 Freestyle and Medley relay teams.
The Female 16 years 4x50 Freestyle relay team consisting of Olivia Dalton, Phoebe Steinfort, Laura Stekelenberg and Stephanie Taylor won a Bronze medal against the highly fancied Melbourne based clubs

- Phoebe Mitchell: Female Open 100m Breaststroke, 50m Breaststroke and 50m

- Millie Nelis: Female 13 years 100m Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke
- Ayla Pearson: Female 12 years 100m Breaststroke
- Trent Richards: Male 13 years 100m and 200m Breaststroke
- Phoebe Steinfort: Female 16 years 100 and 200m Freestyle
- Stephanie Taylor: Female 16 years 100 Backstroke, 200m Freestyle, 100m Butterfly
- Female 12/u Freestyle relay (6th)
- Male 12/U Freestyle (8th) and Medley relays
- Female 14/U Freestyle (4th) and Medley relays
- Male 14/U Freestyle (7th) and Medley relays
- Female 16/U Medley relay (7th)
The club will next compete at the Victorian Country Swimming Championships in Portland over the Australia Day weekend.
