| Records
A ‘Record’ is the fasted time recorded for any stroke over any distance. GSC have male and female records in three different categories:
- Club - the fastest time recorded at Club Champ Events. In this instance SC times are converted to LC. All club records are recorded as LC.
- Long Course the fastest time recorded by a GSC registered swimmer at any LC Event
- Short Course the fastest time recorded by a GSC registered swimmer at any SC Event.
Current records are found on the GSC website. In the event that a swimmer feels that they have broken a record or they wish to make a query they must complete the Record notification sheet
Once the record has been ratified, the swimmer will be presented with a Geelong Swimming Club certificate, signed by the President, stating the full details of the record.
PB Medals
Personal Best (PB) medals are awarded to swimmers when they reach 10, 20 and 30 PB’s in one season. A bronze medal is awarded for 10, silver for 20 and gold for 30. The season is from 1st June of the current year to 31st of May of the following year. At the end of the season totals are put back to zero in readiness for the next season.
A short course (SC) PB is when a swimmer attains a better time in a SC pool (25 metres) than a time they have previously swum in a SC pool for that stroke. A long course (LC) PB is when a swimmer attains a better time in a LC pool (50 metres) than a time they have previously swum in a LC pool for that stroke. Times are not converted SC to LC and LC to SC to gain PB. Whilst Club is held at The Geelong College Pool, PB’s are SC, and similarly, whilst Club is held at Kardinia Pool, PB’s are LC.
Results from every meet including Club Champs can be found on the GSC website. A PB is represented by a minus next to a number in the improvement column. If you are unsure if your results have been retrieved it is important to email the Results Recorder the date, name of event, club hosting the event, swimmers name and age. We'll endeavour to retrieve those results. This will ensure that PB’s are accurately recorded.
If you attend a swim meet ask the event organisers to email the results to the Results Recorder of the Geelong Swimming Club at info@geelongswimmingclub.com.au. This will ensure that we will receive the results. |
