Volunteers Make it Happen

Let's take a moment to recognise some very special people at GSC who help make our club what it is: our volunteers.

From the seemingly small but absolutely critical jobs like putting your hand up to timekeep, to the many roles required to deliver successful meets and events, volunteers are at the heart of everything we do.

Some volunteers take the next step and become Technical Officials. Without officials, there are no meets. Their commitment helps ensure our swimmers have the opportunity to race, achieve qualifying times and chase their goals.

Others support behind the scenes. Our tireless Committee Members, past and present, dedicate countless hours to managing the many responsibilities that keep our club running smoothly. From governance, finance and compliance to communications, onboarding new swimmers, organising events, coordinating uniforms, running BBQs and supporting our coaches and athletes, this contribution to our community is invaluable.

Whether you're helping with timekeeping, officiating, marshalling, fundraising, event organisation, communications, sponsorship, uniforms, governance or committee work, every bit of support matters.

This National Volunteer Week, we thank the many people who generously give their time to support our swimmers, coaches and club community.

We appreciate you. We value you.

And Geelong Swimming Club would not be the same without you.

New to Volunteering?

Timekeeping is one of the easiest volunteer roles at any swim meet but also one of the most important. Without volunteer timekeepers, meets can't run.

The good news? You don't need any experience to get started.

Timekeeping is a simple role, and there will always be experienced volunteers and officials available to show you what to do. Whether it's your first meet or your child's first season in the sport, we're here to help you learn.

If you've never timekept before, don't be afraid to put your name on a Duty Roster when it's available on TeamApp and pop a note in your Parent Chat to let us know you'd like some support.

Every experienced volunteer started somewhere, and there will always be someone with experience who would love to help you get involved.
